Training A Puppy

When you start training a puppy you should get familiar with the basic trainings like the training options we talk about below. If you get it right from the start the training will be much easier for you and your puppy.

Crate training a puppy
Even puppies like a place of their own and if you can train your pup to use the crate it can even reduce anxiety issues, barking and will make housebreaking easier too. Using the crate as a punishment will backfire so use the crate as a positive option and let your pup use its crate when your at home too so it wont see it as a punishment.

Leash training a puppy
with the world ready for exploration your pup might get a bit excited when you take it for a walk but you can't always just let your pup explore and run around on it own so it should get used being on a leash. if you start leash training when they are still young it will be s much easier when they get a bit older and stronger. A great way to train you pup not to pull the lead is to make it sit every time it pulls the lead so your pup will realize the walk will be over every time it pulls the lead.

The Alpha Position
Show your puppy your the boss. When your puppy knows your the leader of the household and will protect them too it will relax and follow your commands much easier then when it feels it needs to fight for the top position in the home. Remember its your job to train the puppy, you can't expect a puppy to know how you want it to behave on its own.

Being Consistent
But what your puppy will need most is consistency. If you don't stick to your plan your puppy will only get confused and won't know what to do when you ask something of it. We all lead busy lives but if you don't have the time to train your puppy you might have to reconsider getting a puppy. Stick to the training and it will pay off...

Training a puppy can be hard work but the it’s a member of your family so take the time to do it right!
